Pineapple, Pear, Dragon Fruit & Coconut Water

Keep in mind for this combo that the ingredients are pretty runny, and it will not be very thick. I serve this one to baby girl in a sippy cup rather than with a spoon. It’s not thick like the smoothies we normally make, so I just call it juice!

Ingredients:
1 Pineapple
2 Pears
1 Dragon fruit
A little coconut water for desire consistency

Instructions:
1.Rinse, peel and chop your pineapple and dragon fruit
2.Wash and chop your pear
3.Combine ingredients in blender
4.Add coconut water for desired consistency

Innobaby Stainless Storage Containers

By the time I write this, many of us parents have gotten over the hard part of the back-to-school season. The school supplies have been purchased, sleeping schedules have been established, and we are forced to adjust lunch ideas to what our kids’ favourite foods are this year. With all that going on, it helps to have some shortcuts, some ways to make the whole experience pleasurable for the kids, and a tad easier for us. This is where the Innobaby Stainless Storage Containers come in.

Before we began using these, I had the lovely task of rummaging through a mountain of old containers to use for school lunches. Finding tops to match the bottoms was tedious enough, and then there was the issue with using plastic containers to put hot food in them. That never settled well with me. So when I saw these stainless steel leak proof containers, you could say my mood changed with it. I went from lazily preparing lunch the morning of school, to prepping the night before, and enjoying it too. It wasn’t just the fact that I had gone comfortably from plastic to stainless steel, but also the look of the containers. They were durable, insulated, and overall more pleasing to the eye than plastic containers. Let’s not forget that they are better for the environment as well.

Keepin’ SMART™ Stainless Lunchbox
This container is the ideal solution for storing food in an airtight space. I can’t stress how many times I have packed lunch for our oldest in standard tupperware, only to find out his food had leaked into his lunch bag. I don’t mind cleaning up a mess, but a toddler’s lunch experience in school comes with enough interruptions as it is, so any other ways to reduce it helps. Stainless steel means I can wash in the dishwasher. The container comes apart and can be washed quickly by hand, but putting them on the top rack of our dishwasher is usually my backup plan for nights when I am just too tired. I like that I have that option. Another feature that I favour is the fact that there’s a BPA free protective sleeve over the stainless steel. Sometimes I put hot or cold food in plastic containers, and either myself or the children feel the temperature all the way through. With the protective sleeve, you can transport the food without worry.

Keepin’ SMART™ Stainless Divided Snackbox
Both containers together are the perfect pair. One is large enough for a main course, and the other comes with a divider, which makes it ideal for snacks. This works great with our toddler (age five as I type this), because his meal times at school are divided into two sessions. What I love about this particular design is that you get the features of the stainless steal lunch box mentioned above, and also a stainless steel divider. Some children do not like when their food touches other food, and some are visual, and enjoy having ingredients or colours separated to make the presentation more aesthetically pleasing. Whatever the reason, you have room for creativity and versatility with this container.

Carrot & Ginger Juice

Ingredients:
6 carrots
1 lemon
2 oranges
1 pear
2in piece of ginger

Instructions:
1.Wash, peel & cut ingredients
2.Juice ingredients
3.Serve immediately

*It’s really the carrot and ginger flavours that pop. I didn’t taste the pear at all, but it’s a great addition for nutritional value. I froze the remaining portions in my silicone @kiddofeedo freezer tray for our eight month old. I offer 1-2oz in a day. Her primary source of nutrition and hydration is still my milk at this stage.

BluTaylor: A Must-Have for Baby Girls

Our first two children are boys, and while we were excited to welcome them into the world, I had never been too enthusiastic about dressing them. I always looked for solid colours and basic prints to make matching quick and simple. Things changed once we had our first daughter last year. It’s safe to say that I could easily spend a hours in the little girls section picking out clothing and accessories for baby girl.

You could probably understand how excited I was when I came across the BluTaylor brand. Their hats grabbed my attention because they are stylish and simple to put on baby. I am lacking when it comes to fashion sense, but I feel like wherever I lack, BluTaylor compensates. It’s so easy to jazz up outfits now, and protect her hair as well. I had the privilege of trying their lovely head pieces, and would love to share my experience with you.

Who is BluTaylor?
BluTaylor (formerly BabyTurban) is a brand that designs handmade hats for both children and adults. I was amazed at how quickly I could put them on baby, and I loved the attention she got from wearing them as well. Most people commented that they loved her head wrap, and asked what technique I used to put it on her, and that is part of the magic. These hats give the illusion of a head wrap, but they are put on the same way you would any hat. They pull up in the center, so they will not get into baby’s eyes, and the stretchy fabric means you get extra wear out of them without them getting too tight for baby too quickly.

My Experience
BluTaylor hats come in a wide range of colours. I chose basic red and a white one, because it’s really easy to match with most of her outfits. I absolutely love patterns, but I tend to go with simple basic colours to make it easier for me to assemble matching outfits and accessories to compliment them. I like that I have that choice, because many brands are too limited when it comes to their fabrics, and it leaves me second guessing what I choose to pair their items with in terms of style.

BluTaylor™ Preemie Program
As mentioned on their website, BluTaylor is a missioned business. I love brands with a deeper cause (besides the obvious and justified need for profit). Now don’t get me wrong, we need to make living. What I mean when I say this is that when you invest both mind and heart into a project, and when you are able to impact a person’s life in ways I am about to mention, the products tend to also have sentimental value, thus making them that much more special.

If you or someone you know has recently had a preemie baby, check out this submission form, and fill it out to receive your custom hat for your little blessing. Delivering a baby early can lead to an emotional time for a couple, and BluTaylor understands this, and wish to give these parents a little support and reminder that they are not alone.

Cherry & Lemon Flavored Water (Prep)

Ingredients:
1 lemon
7 pitted cherries
chia seeds

Instructions:
1.Wash lemon and slice it up
2.Cut each cherry in half
3.Distribute your ingredients evenly into each compartment of your Kiddo Feedo tray
4.Sprinkle a few chia seeds into each compartment
5.Add water, cover and freeze
6.Once frozen, pop one out and it to a glass of water for a refreshing, naturally flavoured glass of water

This combo is great for adults and children over the age of 1 year old. Younger children risk getting full from water which leads to less intake of their breastmilk/formula. Also, it interferes with absorption of nutrients from the breastmilk/formula, which at that age, should still be their primary source of nutrition.
